  • riglin = a male animal (usually a juvenile) with only one testicle, or with a suspended testicle, most commonly used in reference to sheep
  • rindil = (n) wren, (troglodytes troglodytes zetlandicus)
  • ringrody or ringlody = (n)a kettle
  • rinkle = rattle
  • ripe = (v) to dig up potatoes
  • ripper = (n) sharp heavy blade on long handle used to cut the line of a peat bank, before the turves are removed and the tushkar can be used.
  • rit = (n) a type of sheep mark cut on the ears (A cut made lengthwise down the centre of either ear from the tip, length varies from approx 3-4 cm up to approx half the overall length of the ear)
  • rit i de stoo = (n) a sheep lug mark, the tip being cut off and a slit made down the center of the ear
